Your septic system requires a regular pumping. A basic formula for pumping is: 5 or more people in the home pump every year; 3-4 people every 2 years; 2 people every 3 years; and 1 person every 4 years. Usage can affect this formula. Reason for Pumping
Inorganic or inert solid materials and the byproducts of bacterial digestion sink to the bottom of the tank to form sludge. Organic solid material and paper products float to the top to form scum. These materials can plug the tank and overflow into the leaching system. The sludge needs to be pumped out on a regular schedule in order to maintain a healthy leaching system.

We can electronically locate your septic tank using a device which once flushed will send out a signal that will pinpoint your septic tank using the receiver. Typically we can locate your tank without the use of this device, but in some cases it is quite useful.
Exposing Covers and adding risers and lids
For an additional fee we will dig to expose the septic cover at the time of cleaning, or reschedule if more time is needed. Homeowners save money by exposing the tank lid themselves. If both lids are exposed, a more thorough cleaning can be done.
*Lids and risers for all tank access lids are now required by Bernalillo County. Lids brought to the surface and not covered with landscaping or any other materials help mark the location of the tank. This allows for both sides of the tank to be serviced and visually inspected each time it is pumped. Bringing the lids to the surface, and having them accessible is also a requirement when selling your home. Septic Tank Cleaning
We thoroughly clean each septic tank. This includes pumping the tank completely. This ensures the solids at the bottom of the tank are completely removed. We operate large capacity pump trucks with modern vacuum equipment.

Who Needs This Service?
Realtors and homebuyers contract the inspection services of East Mountain Pumping and Septic Systems, Inc. to assist them in making an informed decision regarding a property’s septic system.
A thorough inspection includes locating, digging and removing the covers on the septic tank, installing lids and risers, assessing the integrity of the baffles, assessing the sludge and scum levels in the tank and checking the general integrity of the tank. We also check for any visual signs of the tank having overflowed in the past.
The inspection continues with a site inspection of the drainfield. The general integrity of the area is checked and the inspection looks for signs of water surfacing or having done so in the past.
The inspection report is an assessment of the condition of the septic system as of that date and is not a guarantee.
